Hybrid clubs have been one of the building blocks of Cobra Golf's success through the years. The company is continuing that tradition with the new Cobra S2 Max in iron and iron-hybrid integrated sets. Each set, according to Cobra, is designed for maximum forgiveness and high launch for mid- to high-handicap players. In particular, the S2 Max Iron-Hybrid set features Baffler-style hybrids that Cobra says provides proper distance gapping throughout the set for players who prefer hitting forgiving hybrids over long irons.
The Baffler line was among the first "hybrid'' form of club designed more than 20 years ago and it still performs as well today as it did then, meaning the S2 Max Iron-Hybrid set is among the easier hybrid iron sets to hit from club to club. Given that, the S2 Max Iron-Hybrid set could be a big winner for Cobra Golf as it begins life under new parent Puma in the next few months.
The Cobra S2 Max Iron-Hybrid Set is available in two sets for men, along with women’s and seniors. The men's graphite set includes 3/H, 4/H and 5/H hybrids, and 6-PW irons, featuring Aldila DVS-HL shafts and carries a suggested retail price of $776; the men’s steel set (SRP $632) includes 3/H and 4/H hybrids with Aldila DVS-HL graphite shafts, and 5-PW irons with FST steel shafts; women’s and seniors’/Lite sets (SRP $776) include 4/H, 5/H and 6/H hybrids, 7-PW, and SW irons with Aldila DVS-HL graphite shafts. Gap and sand wedges are also available separately for any version of the set.
The Cobra S2 Max Irons are available in men’s high-launch Aldila DVS-HL graphite shaft as well as and lightweight FST steel shafts (4-PW, GW) and women’s and seniors’ Aldila DVS-HL graphite shafts (5-PW, GW, SW). The Cobra S2 Max irons carry a SRP of $500 for steel and $630 for graphite.
