ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- Tiger Woods, the world''s best golfer, on Thursday was named the winner of the Mark H.McCormack Award for a 10th straight year.
The award is presented annually to the player who holds theworld''s top ranking for the greatest number of weeks in eachcalendar year.
Woods has won the award each year since its inception in 1998.
Woods held the top position on the official rankings for all of2007, and ended the year with 134 consecutive weeks at No. 1.
"Tiger has proven he is one of the all-time greats of the game,"PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchmen said. "Winning theMcCormack Award for the 10th consecutive year is a testament tohis work ethic and competitiveness to stay at No. 1 for such anextended period of time."
Overall, Woods has held the No. 1 ranking 486 weeks.
Unbeaten in the last seven months, Woods is putting a five-eventwinning streak on the line this week at the Arnold PalmerInvitational.
