PARK CITY, Utah (Ticker) -- Tiger Woods will be taking a longer-than-usual break after a major.

Following his second-place finish to Trevor Immelman at theMasters this past weekend, Woods will be out four to six weeksafter undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesdayat Healthsouth Surgery Center.

The standard rehabilitation schedule for such a surgery makes ithighly unlikely that the 32-year-old Woods will defend histitle at the Wachovia Championship from May 1-4 and also putshis appearance at The Players Championship, which runs from May8-11, in jeopardy.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Thomas D. Rosenberg. It wason the same knee on which he had two previous surgeries - thefirst to remove a benign tumor in 1994 and arthroscopic surgeryin December 2002.

"I made the decision to deal with the pain and schedule thesurgery for after the Masters," Woods said in a statement postedon his web site. "The upside is that I have been through thisprocess before and know how to handle it. I look forward toworking through the rehabilitation process and getting back toaction as quickly as I can."

Woods has claimed 13 major championships in his career, the lastof which came when he successfully defended his title at the2007 PGA Championship.
