PALM DESERT, California (Ticker) -- Justin Leonard, D.J. Trahan and
Robert Gamez are tied atop the leaderboard at 16-under par midway
through Friday's third round of the $5.1 million Bob Hope Chrysler
Classic.
Ben Crane is two shots behind and Anthony Kim is three shots behind.
Leonard, who won this event in 2005, began the day a stroke behind the
leaders and shot a front-nine 32 to get to 16-under. He has made par on
his first four holes on the back nine.
Trahan and Gamez were tied for the lead after the second round and are
3-under in the third round. Trahan is through 12 holes and Gamez has
played eight holes.
Trahan did have the sole lead by making a birdie at No. 11 before bogeying the following hole.
Four different golf courses are used in the pro am format that mixes celebrities and amateurs with professionals.
