Thomas Levet Trusts New Pro V1 Golf Ball To Capture Open de España

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. - Thomas Levet relied upon the New Titleist Pro V1 golf ball to fight off a succession of challenges to win the Open de España by two shots and claim his fifth career PGA European Tour title - a record for a French player. Levet, who started the day as the overnight leader by two shots, closed with a 4-under 68 to finish with an 18-under total of 270. Levet's win marks the 10th by Titleist golf ball players on the 2009 European Tour, compared to 4 for the nearest competitor. Fabrizio Zanotti, trusting the New Titleist Pro V1x, finished 2nd, two shots back. The 25-year old Zanotti, who had never previously posted a top ten finish on the circuit, had nine birdies in a best-of-the-day 7-under 65.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 108 players (69%), compared to 25 for the nearest competitor. Titleist also tied for first in iron sets (34), and was first in wedges (162).

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Quail Hollow Championship with 104 players (67%), compared to 19 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was also first in iron sets (44), wedges (146) and putters (59), and second in drivers (41) and fairway metals (59).

WORLDWIDE WINS: Levet's win advances Titleist's 2009 worldwide win count to 45, more than three times the nearest competitor with 12, and more than all other golf balls combined.
