The ‘King’ is Back with a New X-Caliber Shaft Series

SAN DIEGO — Robin Arthur, formerly chief of composite development at General Dynamics, and for eight years director of research and development at Grafalloy, is back with a new company and new shaft line, the X-Caliber.

X-Caliber shafts by Arthur Xtreme Engineering are built with the highest tolerances. X-Caliber shafts are designed utilizing new Ballistic Intergrated Mechanics (BIM) flight software and final designs are approved only after 125 hours of rigorous player testing.

Arthur’s Xtreme Engineering introduces a new approach to composite design and is changing the way golf shafts are designed. It is based on a new process called Ballistic Integration Mechanics (BIM) — a study of a controlled Xplosion (swing) resulting in the ballistics (flight) of an object (ball) based on dynamic deformation of a structure (shaft bending) and its dynamic impact (clubhead speed and orientation) with that object.

Arthur said, “For the past 20 years, I’ve been intimately involved in the golf business. The last few years I’ve watched with amusement all the marketing claims companies have used to market their shafts (and clubs). I’m sorry, but blind testing with these high-priced shafts tell me that no shaft should cost more than $100 if the cost is based on pure empirical data. My goal in developing the X-Caliber line was to create a line of shafts that are as good, and in most cases better, than any shaft on the market AND to allow golfers of all abilities to use that shaft to help their game for a fair, reasonable price.”

Xcaliber shafts are only available through Golfworks at 800.848.8358 and online at www.golfworks.com. For more information on Arthur Xtreme Engineering, go to www.arthursports.com.
