BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- Softspikes, the world's leading golf cleat brand and the #1 Cleat on Tour, announced that Black Widow Grips, the bold and innovative new line of golf grips, made a big statement on the Nationwide Tour, as this weekend's top 15 place finisher at the Melwood Prince George's County Open played with the Widow Maker model on his entire set of clubs.

The new Black Widow Grips line, which has received rave reviews since debuting at the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show, continues to succeed on both the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour, with top players achieving success with the grips in competition. Created to meet the demands of players at all levels, the Black Widow Grips line offers five distinct models: Tour Silk, Widow Maker, Signature, Fusion and Edge, which include either Web Traction Technology or the Softspikes traction inspired interlocking "S" pattern and black widow spider icons, along with bold designs.

"We are very excited by the progress the Black Widow Grips are continuing to see on the professional tours, as more players are recognizing the performance characteristics of our high performance grip models," said John Hohman, Vice President of Marketing, Softspikes. "Having an accomplished player on the Nationwide Tour use our grips on his way to a top 15 place finish is another step forward in our quest to become one of the game's premier grip manufacturers."

To further promote the Black Widow Grips line, earlier this year Softspikes launched www.bwgrips.com, an interactive website that features a number of insightful pages that educate consumers about golf grips. The new website also features a tutorial on how to properly clean the grips, complete with easy-to-follow photos and tips, and an instructional video that teaches consumers how to properly install their grips. Suggested retail price for the Black Widow Grips, which arrived at on-course green grass stores nationwide in early April, vary from $3.99 to $9.39 per grip depending on the model. Green Grass retailers interested in carrying the grips in their store, please contact your Softspikes distributor to place your order.
