Bridgestone Golf, which basically pioneered the ‘long and soft’ value performance golf ball market with the introduction of the Precept MC Lady more than a decade ago, is continuing along that line with the introduction of the TreoSoft ball. The two-piece TreoSoft features a 330-dimple pattern with Bridgestone's Seamless Cover Technology which the company says eliminates the traditional seam line. Bridgestone says SCT technology creates added distance and a more consistent flight for better accuracy by eliminating the variance in distance between ‘pole-hits’ and ‘equator-hits.’

The TreoSoft also features a soft gradational compression core Bridgestone says is designed to produce optimum deformation and repulsion at impact for moderate swing speed golfers.

"Basically what the TreoSoft does is broaden the access to the Bridgestone brand to that mid-skill recreational golfer at an entry level price point," said Brandon Sowell, marketing manager for Bridgestone Golf.

Indeed. The Bridgestone Golf TreoSoft, available July 1, will carry a suggested retail price of $30 per dozen, meaning the shelf price will generally be around $21.99.

"We'll have distribution across the board, on course and off course, as well as sporting goods channels," Sowell says. "Being at that entry level price, we figure it's mostly going to focus around off course stores and sporting goods stores because typically that's where that shopper picks up golf balls."
