Phil Mickelson: Unlikely to Play the British Open

Update: Mickelson’s mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will undergo surgery on Friday, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Her diagnosis comes just two month’s after Mickelson’s wife was also diagnosed with breast cancer.

Recommendation: Mickelson had said it was “highly unlikely” he’d play in the British Open before this news. We may not understandbly see him out on the golf course for quite awhile.
