By Steve Pike Cobra Golf has started shipping its latest generation of utility metals — the King Cobra Baffler TWS that the company says a Triple Weighting System that adds a third weight to provide the better balance of higher Moment of Inertia (MOI) and lower Center of Gravity (CG). Each '09 Baffler carries a suggested retail price of $175. “The Cobra Baffler has been the best-selling utility on the market since March of 2006," said Brian Zender, general manager of Cobra Golf. “The new Baffler TWS is designed for players seeking a versatile, easy-to-hit alternative to long irons." Cobra Golf is a pioneer in the utility metal woods, having launched the original Baffler in 1975, For the next 20 years, Cobra's reputation was centered on the Baffler utility metals. In this latest generation, "We've lowered the CG location to create a slightly higher launch angle and increased the MOI for even greater forgiveness and consistency across the entire hitting area," said Tom Preece, vice president of Cobra club research and development. “The face area has also been made slightly larger to drive higher ball speeds on off-center hits. And the contoured sole design insures that the Baffler's unique blend of forgiveness, playability, and versatility remains unmatched."
