While Japanese engineers are well-known for their skill at making technology smaller, Japanese golfers are making events larger. Recently, more than 1,000 golfers attended the High Speed Performance and Swing Check event, held at the Lotte Kasai Golf Center, and all received free clubhead speed analysis by GolfAchiever, a sophisticated launch monitor system designed and manufactured by Focaltron of Sunnydale, Calif.

“Followed with great success in the Korean market with more than 3,500 GolfAchiever installations, we are proud to have GolfAchiever part of this successful event through the help of our reseller, Enjoy Golf & Sports Japan,” stated GolfAchiever/Focaltron CEO and President Arlene Pao.

Attendees at Japan’s largest driving range event also received personal swing checks from professional instructors.

The Lotte Kasai Golf Center in Tokyo features 300 hitting bays overlooking a 250-yard range, which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The High Speed Performance and Swing Check event, sponsored by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Group, producer of Amino Value Sports drinks, covered a two week period from June 16, 2008, to June 29, 2008.

“We were impressed with the GolfAchiever, the data provided and the ease of use, made the instruction effortless,” stated JGRA lesson pros.

GolfAchiever's patented laser technology is arranged in a portable L-Frame weighing less than 10 pounds. The L-Frame features two opposing lasers, base and post, which saturate opposite laser detector assemblies on the post and base, respectively. When a golf shot is taken, GolfAchiever instantly captures precise optical data and converts it to ultra high-speed electronics. The digital data is then sent to the computer where GolfAchiever's proprietary algorithms calculate shot parameters.

Focaltron is a technology-based company located in Sunnyvale, Calif. Founded in 1996, the company's objective is to provide golf's industry professionals with a more accurate and effective means of golf performance evaluation. GolfAchiever Advisory Board members include Dr. Jim Suttie, Chuck Cook, Martin Hall, and Tom Wishon. Over 1,000 GolfAchiever systems have been sold to PGA professionals, golf equipment manufacturers, golf retailers, PCS Clubmakers, tour professionals and golf consumers.
