PALM DESERT, California (Ticker) - Defending champion Charley Hoffman
is tied for the lead during Wednesday's first round of the Bob Hope
Chrysler Classic.
Hoffman, who defeated John Rollins in a playoff last year, is 5-under
through seven holes. He is tied with Tim Petrovic atop the leaderboard.
Hoffman and Petrovic lead six other golfers by one stroke.
Four different golf courses are used in the Pro Am format that mixes celebrities and amateurs with professionals.
Hoffman, who is playing at SilverRock Resort, made a birdie on his
second hole, an eagle on his third and two more birdies. Petrovic shot
a 5-under-par 31 on the back nine at the host course, the Classic
Course.
