| | | In looking at swings over the last several weeks I analyzed 30 swings of PGA Professionals. The one thing that kept coming up is that on the take away, 29 of 30 pros kept the clubhead outside the hands when the club is parallel to the ground. Also, among those 30, not one had the clubhead inside the hands at this point in the swing!
The one player inside the hands was Jim Furyk. These 30 were the best in the business and the guys who are winning on the tour! This seems to be a pretty important indication that all of us should be doing the same thing.
Another point is in watching Kenny Perry and Ryan Moore, both of whom seem to be very deliberate in making this move! The move is important for the simple reason it allows the player to get the club moving toward the correct plane, thus making it easier to return the club to impact most efficiently.
We all need to make sure that when taking the club back, we must swing the entire club and not just the clubhead. It is very hard to change an inside take away but essential to your continued improvement. If the best in the world are doing it maybe we should start changing now!
