BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —  The  oldest and largest two-year golf college in the world, Golf Academy of America (GAA) has announced it is proud to honor Constitution Day observed this year on September 17, 2010. During the commemoration, the college is helping students at Golf Academy of America — in addition to those throughout the entire Virginia College network — and the general public to understand the profound importance of this one-of-a-kind document.

The Constitution of the United States — four pages that created a new government more than 200 years ago — is a covenant that continues to profoundly shape the lives of every American to this day. Learn more about the Constitution at http://www.vc.edu/constitutionday/index.cfm

“We invite everyone to join us in making, or renewing, your acquaintance with this extraordinary document, and reflecting on its historical and contemporary significance,” says Chris Hunkler, president of Golf Academy of America. “Living and working within the golf industry is certainly fun and rewarding, but none of it would be possible without the protections and liberty afforded to us by the Constitution of the United States and the brave men and women of our armed forces who risk their lives to defend it. “

Golf Academy of America graduates are working as golf and teaching professionals, club fitters, golf tournament organizers, golf course owners, golf product development specialists and more around the world. Attending GAA helps students qualify for jobs within the $76 billion golf industry. Offering a 16-month program of golf instruction and golf business management, the Golf Academy of America provides graduates with the education required to get the golf job they desire.

The Golf Academy of America leads the industry in golf education and features four campuses in major golf markets – Phoenix, Myrtle Beach, Orlando and San Diego. The GAA was founded in 1974 and is today accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) which is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), a national advocate and institutional voice for self-regulation of academic quality through accreditation.
