GONZALES, Louis. – An extensive educational experience starts at the top, and the latest new hire at Pelican Point Golf Club reflects Golf Academy of America (GAA) excellence in education. GAA is proud to officially announce that Andrés Prieto has been hired as the new PGA head golf professional at the Pelican Point Golf Club.

“At GAA we have many success stories that reflect what we teach our students: work hard and share your passion for golf to get the job you want in the golf industry,” says Tim Eberlein, PGA master professional and GAA director of golf. Prieto’s is a perfect illustration of GAA mission and goal. Prieto was the first PGA Class A golf professional from Chile and he received specialized associate degrees in golf complex operations and management, advanced teaching, club repair operations and tournament management from the Golf Academy of America in Orlando, FL. He participated in two world golf championships and competed in many amateur tournaments representing Chile in countries around the world. From May 2004 to June 2005, Prieto was the assistant golf professional at Pelican Point Golf Club and now he has returned as new PGA head golf professional. Prieto also worked as the assistant golf professional at Sherwood Forest and Baton Rouge Country Clubs.

Golf Academy of America offers a 16-month program of golf instruction and golf business management, which provides graduates with the education required to get the golf job they desire and Prieto is a perfect example of this!

The Golf Academy of America leads the industry in golf education and features four campuses in major golf markets – Phoenix, Myrtle Beach, Orlando and San Diego. The GAA was founded in 1974 and is today accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) which is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), a national advocate and institutional voice for self-regulation of academic quality through accreditation.
