Funk leads by 7 shots at Senior British Open

SUNNINGDALE, England (AP)—Before Tom Watson could even begin his second round, Fred Funk has threatened to spoil his party by shooting a 5-under 65 to lead by seven shots at the Senior British Open.

Funk totaled 11-under 129 after holing an 8-iron to eagle the last at Sunningdale on Friday. Play was then suspended due to a thunderstorm.

Watson, who is trying to improve on his runner-up finish in the British Open last Sunday, shot 67 in the first round.

Denis Watson of South Africa (68) and Mark McNulty of Ireland (67) were next among those who had finished their second rounds.
