The soon-to-be-released Project X wood and hybrid shafts secured a victory at the BMW Italian Open this past weekend. The new precision-engineered graphite shafts were introduced to the world’s best players in 2008 and have continued to gain popularity on tours worldwide this season.
This weekend’s European Tour champion scored a strong six-under-par round of 65 to clinch a six stroke win. He played the new Project X 7A3 shaft in his R9 driver, a Project X 8A4 in his 3-wood and a Project X HB6 in his hybrid.
“This was a great win preceding our launch for the new graphite Project X shafts which are an extremely unique and complex design,” says Don Brown, product development manager and designer of the new shafts. “Their discrete taper has been perfected for each shaft and adjusting shaft flex based on stiffness profile and launch conditions to maximize distance. We’re very pleased this integrated technology has already delivered a pro tour win and we’re anxious to make this design available.”
Crafted with eight different premium composite materials and the best graphite fibers available in the world, the all-new Project X shafts deliver superior cross-sectional stability and maintain the designed performance characteristics throughout the swing for consistent shot patterns. The new Project X wood and hybrid shafts features Zonal Design Theory (ZDT) with three distinct zones utilizing unique and separate technologies to optimize performance in the butt, mid and tip sections. In addition, the new line of graphite Project X shafts provide optimized launch profiles by matching EI profiles to specific weight, torque and ball flight for maximum player performance.
