Despite having won the World Match Play at Wentworth a recordseven times, most recently last October, Els has a terriblerecord in the World Golf Championships tournament and a year agowas knocked out in the first round by Welshman Bradley Dredge.

The official draw for the 64-man event is on Sunday and theworld number four has until then to decide. Brett Wetterich isalready out injured, bringing JB Holmes into the field, andthere is also a doubt over Arron Oberholser.

Els has been at his Wentworth home this week after finishingthird behind Tiger Woods and Martin Kaymer at the Dubai DesertClassic and then sixth in last week''s Indian Masters.

In Dubai he was the long-time leader, but then needed a closingbirdie to catch Woods and instead hit his second shot on the parfive into the water and took six.
