Dave Eichelberger, at 67 too far removed from his prime even to contend on the Champions Tour any longer, won the Aloha Section PGA Professional Championship on Wednesday for which the ultimate prize is an exemption into the PGA Tour's Sony Open in Hawaii in January.

Eichelberger, who hasn't had a top 10 on the Champions Tour since 2006 and hasn't finished better than 74th in six starts in 2010, shot his age in the second and final round of the Aloha Section event, a 67, that gave him a one-stroke victory.

"I am shocked. I never had any idea. I was just hoping to play good in section events and all that," Eichelberger told Ann Miller of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

For the record, the oldest ever to play a PGA Tour event was Jerry Barber, who was nearing his 78th birthday when he played in the Buick Invitational of California in 1994. He missed the cut.
