On Thursday February 5, 2009 Bobby Clampett spoke to students at GAA San Diego-Campus. Bobby discussed growing up in Monterey, California and taking up golf at the age of 10 years old.  He touched on his approach teaching golf to a new student emphasizing that lessons should begin with the putting green and work backwards to the teeing ground.  Discussing the golf motion, he explained to students that it doesn’t matter what the swing looks like as long as the clubface is square at impact as the swing is based off the impact on the ball.

Conducting studies of several golfers and their handicaps, he concluded that the divot should be four inches in front of the ball (like Tiger Woods). For every inch shorter than the optimal divot four inches ahead of the ball, he concluded that you could add four strokes to their handicap index. After the clinic Bobby did a book signing of his book, The Impact Zone to be raffled off to attending students.

Mr. Clampett is best know today for his commentary on CBS, and his past work with TNT, at three of golf’s four major championships and many PGA Tour events.  Bobby has developed a variety of business interests in addition to his past playing career and most recently has started to key in on his playing career comeback.  He will turn 50 on April 22, 2010 and play on the Champions Tour.  Bobby has most recently created “Impact Zone Golf” to spread the unique teaching concepts from his book, The Impact Zone.  To learn more about Bobby please reference http://www.bobbyclampett.com/
