MADRID, SPAIN (TICKER) —Golfing great Seve Ballesteros was released from a Spanish hospital Tuesday, over two months after undergoing surgery to remove a malignant tumor from his brain. Ballesteros, 51, will continue to be treated as an outpatient, Madrid’s La Paz Hospital said in a statement. “The patient Severiano Ballesteros has been discharged this morning by the Department of Neurosurgery and has already left the hospital,” the statement said. “He will continue to have outpatient treatment in the Departments of Radiotherapy and Medical Oncology.” A five-time major winner, Ballesteros was admitted on October 6 after collapsing at Madrid Airport. He underwent a 6 1/2-hour operation 18 days later to remove the tumor and reduce dwelling around his brain. Ballesteros won the British Open in 1979, 1984 and 1988 and became the first European to win the Masters in 1980, a title he claimed again in 1983.
